How much does plastering cost?
Gypsum plaster to screeds is from 22 ₾ per m², cement plaster for wet areas is 26 ₾ per m² and reveals are 25 ₾ per linear metre. Prices are labour only, materials are extra. The total depends on thickness, so we estimate after a free survey.
Do I need to redo the developer's plaster in a white-frame flat?
Not always. White-frame walls in Batumi are often uneven, but sometimes a skim coat is enough and sometimes re-plastering is better. We check every wall at the survey and tell you honestly where you can save.
How long does plaster take to dry?
It depends on thickness and weather. Batumi is humid, so walls dry more slowly, especially in winter. We don't skim or paint until the wall is dry, otherwise cracks and patches appear later.
Machine or hand plastering?
Machine plastering is faster on large areas, such as a whole black-frame flat. We plaster by hand for small areas, reveals and awkward spots.
Can I order plastering if I'm not in Batumi?
Yes. We send photos and video of the measurements, agree the estimate on WhatsApp or Telegram and send photo updates as the work goes on.
Wall plastering in Batumi: the base you notice last
A crooked wall is rarely noticed straight away. It gives itself away through a kitchen unit that leaves a wedge-shaped gap of a centimetre and a half against the wall, splashback tiles cut down to nothing in the corner, or a sliding wardrobe whose door rolls downhill. Wall plastering in Batumi solves this problem before it becomes expensive: at the free measurement visit the tradesman checks every surface with a straightedge and a level, works out the deviations and the thickness of the future layer, and only then names a price.
White frame: redo the developer's work or not
There is no single answer, and it is more honest to check than to replaster everything straight away. If the deviations are within tolerance, primer and filler will be enough. If a corner of the room is noticeably off square and the wall bulges out towards the middle, it will have to be levelled again for the kitchen and the tiles. We decide wall by wall, and the estimate shows exactly what you are paying for.
Gypsum, cement or machine
Hand-applied gypsum plaster on guide beads costs from 22 ₾ per m². This is the standard for bedrooms and the living room: the coat goes on smoothly and gains strength quickly. Cement plaster, from 26 ₾ per m², is what we use where moisture is constant, that is in the bathroom, on the balcony and in other wet areas.
Machine application starts from 18 ₾ per m². Over a large area it is faster and gives an even coat with no joins between batches. The manual method is kept for small jobs, window and door reveals, and awkward spots around pipes and openings. Window and door reveals after frame replacement cost from 25 ₾ per linear metre.
Cracks along joints are a separate issue. In new builds the walls are often built from blocks that butt up against concrete columns, and these materials react differently to temperature and humidity. The joint opens up as a thin line six months after painting. Reinforcing mesh, from 5 ₾ per m², ties these areas together and absorbs the movement.
Order of work
- Site visit and measurement of deviations.
- Calculation of the area and materials, agreeing the estimate.
- Cleaning, priming, reinforcing the joints, fixing the guide beads.
- Applying and levelling the coat, forming corners and reveals.
- Drying, checking the surface with a straightedge, cleaning up.
Why plastering is not rushed
In the humid seaside air walls take longer to dry than in inland cities, and even longer in winter. We only start filling and painting on a dry base. If you rush it, the paint peels off in blisters, the filler develops a web of fine cracks, and you end up paying for the finish twice.
All the amounts above are for labour: we will buy the mixes, guide beads and mesh according to the estimate, or you can supply them yourself. The guarantee on plastering work is 12 months. For owners who are not in Georgia at the moment, we send photos and videos of the measurements, agree the estimate in a messenger and show the progress of the work in pictures. Want to know whether your walls need plastering or whether filler will do? Start with a measurement visit; it does not commit you to anything.
Let's straighten your walls
Send photos of the walls or a floor plan. We'll come for a free survey and show you where the walls are really out.
