What should I do before you arrive?
Don't keep resetting a tripped breaker. If you smell burning or see sparks, switch off the main breaker in the panel and stay away from wet sockets and appliances.
How much does fault finding cost?
Diagnostics with a visit is from 60 ₾. Finding a leak or overload when a breaker or RCD trips is 80 ₾, repair after a short circuit is 120 ₾. We agree the repair price after diagnosis, before any work.
Why does the RCD trip for no obvious reason?
Usually it's current leakage: moisture in a socket or junction box, a damaged cable, or a faulty water heater or washing machine. We find which circuit and which appliance is the problem.
Does Batumi's humidity affect electrics?
Yes. In the humid seaside climate contacts oxidise faster, and condensation can build up in boxes in bathrooms, on balconies and in flats closed for the season. We check those spots first.
Can you come if I'm not in the flat?
Yes. A building manager, neighbour or host can hand over the key. We send photos of what we find, agree the price in a messenger, and for small repairs you pay after the work.
Electrical fault finding in Batumi: find the cause, don't just swap the breaker
A tripped breaker is not a fault in itself but a signal. It trips because somewhere in the circuit the current has gone where it shouldn't: an overload, a short circuit, leakage through moisture. If you simply flip the switch back up and forget about it, the cause stays in the wall and sooner or later shows itself more seriously. Electrical fault finding in Batumi starts with the electrician isolating the problem circuit and following it from the panel to the last socket until he finds the point where it behaves wrongly.
Symptoms people call us about
- The breaker or RCD trips, sometimes with no obvious link to the appliances that are switched on.
- One room has no power while the others do.
- A socket has gone black, melted or sparks when you plug something in.
- There is a smell of burning insulation, but it is unclear where from.
- You get a shock from the casing of the washing machine or the tap.
- Part of the flat stopped working after a leak from the neighbours.
Each symptom needs its own method. A break is found by testing sections for continuity, earth leakage is measured circuit by circuit, and an overload is identified by comparing the load with the breaker rating.
Damp as a separate cause
By the sea, many failures are caused not by wear but by water. Condensation collects in junction boxes on balconies and in bathrooms, water from the neighbours upstairs runs down the cable into the back box, and the RCD starts tripping for no apparent reason. That is why on every call-out the electrician checks wet areas separately: the bathroom, the balcony, boxes on external walls. Sometimes it is enough to dry out and re-insulate the connection; sometimes a section of cable has to be replaced.
Diagnostic prices
- Call-out with diagnostics: from 60 ₾.
- Finding leakage or an overload if the breaker or RCD trips: from 80 ₾.
- Finding a break when part of the flat has no power: from 90 ₾.
- Restoring power after a short circuit: from 120 ₾.
- Urgent call-out in the evening or at the weekend: from 80 ₾.
Materials are charged separately. The electrician gives you the cost of the repair once the cause has been found, and only starts work after you agree.
How a call-out works
- You message us and, if possible, attach a photo of the panel.
- An electrician is with you the same day and first isolates the problem circuit.
- He finds the cause and agrees the repair price with you.
- He fixes the fault, tests the circuit under load and switches the power back on.
Completed repairs come with a 12-month guarantee.
While the electrician is on the way
Don't reset a tripped breaker again: if it trips a second time, the circuit is faulty and every switch-on can make the damage worse. Don't touch wet sockets or appliances. If you see sparks or smell burning, switch off the main breaker in the panel. If you are not in the flat right now, you can leave the key with the management company, an administrator or a neighbour, and the electrician will manage without you.
Electrical problem?
Tell us what happened and send a photo of the panel — we'll come the same day and find the cause.
