How much does soundproofing cost?
Framed wall soundproofing is from 55 ₾/m², frameless panels 40 ₾/m², ceilings on acoustic hangers 60 ₾/m². That's labour only. You get an exact estimate after a free survey.
Will it be completely silent?
No, and we're upfront about that. Noise drops noticeably, but in an apartment block you can't remove it entirely, as sound travels through floors and adjoining walls too.
How much space will it take?
A framed system takes roughly 7 – 10 cm off each wall; frameless panels take less. We'll pick the option that suits your room.
Why is this a big deal in Batumi?
Many new builds have thin walls between flats, and places near the seafront or busy streets get loud in season. Soundproofing is easiest during renovation, before the final finish.
Is it worth it in a rental flat?
If guests mention noise in reviews, insulating at least the bedroom often pays off. It's best built into the renovation so you don't redo the finishes later.
Soundproofing in Batumi: first we find where the noise comes from
The most expensive mistake in soundproofing is treating the wrong wall. The owner hears the neighbour and lines the party wall, but the sound keeps coming through the floor slab, the soil stack or an unnoticed gap around a socket. That is why apartment soundproofing in Batumi starts with an inspection: we find out what noise is bothering you and which parts of the structure it travels through. Only after that do we choose a system and work out the cost.
Why Batumi apartments are so noisy
In many new builds the walls between apartments are thin, and a conversation next door can be heard almost word for word. Apartments near the seafront and on busy streets get noise until late at night in season. A separate story is a bedroom next to the lift shaft, and the soil stack that loudly announces every time the neighbours upstairs use the bathroom.
Options and prices
- Stud system with mineral wool on resilient mounts: from 55 ₾ per m². Gives the best result but takes up about 7 – 10 cm from each lined wall.
- Frameless panels: from 40 ₾ per m². Thinner, and suitable when every centimetre of the room counts.
- Ceiling on acoustic hangers: from 60 ₾ per m². Works against footsteps and knocking from above.
- Sound insulation under the screed for a floating floor: from 10 ₾ per m². Protects the neighbours below and you from impact noise.
- Insulated boxing around a soil stack: from 40 ₾ per linear metre.
Materials are not included in these rates and are costed as a separate line.
Small things that cancel out the effect
Sound goes wherever there is air. A through gap by a slab, a socket set into a party wall or a gap above the framing lets noise through almost as much as a bare wall. That is why before installation we seal the joints and socket boxes, and decouple the system itself from the load-bearing structure with resilient mounts.
What to expect, honestly
Complete silence in an apartment building cannot be achieved: some of the sound still travels through the floor slabs and adjoining walls. But a loud TV turns into a barely noticeable background hum, and you can no longer make out the words of a conversation through the wall. Promising more would be dishonest.
Quiet as part of your listing rating
Guest complaints about noise lower a listing's rating faster than old furniture does. If such reviews have already appeared, insulating the bedroom often pays for itself through ratings and repeat bookings. It is most cost-effective to plan it in at the renovation stage, before the finishing, otherwise part of the finish will have to be removed.
Order of work
An inspection and search for the source of the noise, then the choice of system and an estimate. Next comes preparation: if necessary we remove the finish and seal the gaps. After installation we close the system up with plasterboard, and the wall is ready for painting. The work comes with a 12-month guarantee, and the inspection and estimate are free.
