    How we work

    1. 1

      Survey and calculation

      We look at the bathroom, measure floor depth and choose the drain type.

    2. 2

      Drain and pipework

      We fit the drain, connect it to the sewer and run water to the mixer.

    3. 3

      Sloped screed

      We form the slope towards the drain and let the screed dry.

    4. 4

      Waterproofing and test

      We apply the membrane, tape the corners and flood-test the area.

    5. 5

    FAQ

    How much does a walk-in shower cost?

    A point drain starts from 180 ₾, a linear one from 280 ₾, sloped screed and waterproofing from 30 – 35 ₾ per m². The total depends on area and mixer; we fix it before work starts.

    Is there enough floor height for a drain?

    A drain needs depth for its body and for the slope. If there is little, we use a low-profile drain, a wall drain or raise the whole bathroom floor slightly. We will confirm on site.

    Will it leak to the neighbours below?

    Leaks usually come through badly done corners and the drain joint. We tape them, take the membrane up the walls and flood-test the area before tiling.

    Batumi is humid. Will mould appear?

    In a humid climate mould shows up in grout faster, so water must not stand. We build a proper slope, recommend epoxy grout in the shower area and suggest checking the extractor fan.

    Point drain or linear channel?

    A point drain is cheaper, but the floor slopes from four sides and tiles need envelope cuts. A channel needs a slope in one direction and suits large tiles. A wall drain is nearly invisible but needs a niche.

    Can you fit a glass shower screen?

    Yes. We measure after tiling, order tempered glass to size and fit it on a profile with seals so water stays in the shower. Fitting from 150 ₾, glass priced after measuring.

    Walk-in shower in Batumi: drain, fall and waterproofing

    A shower without a tray looks like a continuation of the bathroom floor: no upstands, one run of tiles from the door to the wall. It is convenient both for older people and for guests in a short-let flat with suitcases. But behind that flat surface is an engineering task: the water has to go into the drain, not towards the wall or down to the neighbours below. A walk-in shower in Batumi is built up in layers, and we photograph every layer before the tiles are laid.

    Which drain to choose

    • A point drain, from 180 ₾, is the most affordable but needs a fall towards the centre from all four sides. The tiles around it have to be cut in an envelope pattern.
    • A linear channel drain, from 280 ₾, sits by the wall and needs a fall in one direction only. It works well with large-format tiles, which then do not need cutting.
    • A wall drain costs the same, but needs a niche. The floor stays almost perfectly flat.

    If the floor height is not enough

    A drain needs spare height for its body and the fall. In new builds this is often the main constraint. There are several ways round it: a low-profile drain, a wall drain, or raising the floor of the whole bathroom by a few centimetres. We decide which option works when we measure up.

    Cost of the base and finishing

    • screed laid to a fall towards the drain: from 35 ₾ per m²;
    • waterproofing the shower area: from 30 ₾ per m²;
    • concealed mixer and shower system: from 300 ₾;
    • installing a glass screen or door: from 150 ₾.

    The drain, mixer and glass are paid for separately. The total depends on the area and the system you choose, and it is fixed before work starts.

    Concealed mixer and glass

    A concealed mixer makes the shower look even cleaner: only the trim plate and the shower head remain on the wall, everything else goes into the wall. The built-in body is installed before tiling, so the model is chosen in advance. A toughened glass screen is made to size, and a profile with seals keeps splashes from escaping the shower area.

    How not to flood the neighbours

    We apply liquid waterproofing over the whole shower floor and take it up onto the walls. We seal the corners and the junction with the drain using reinforcing tapes, because leaks usually show up in exactly these places. Then we flood the area with water and check that it holds, and only after that does the tiling begin.

    How to avoid mould

    By the sea, shower grout darkens faster than you would like. Three things reduce the risk: the right fall, so water does not sit on the tiles, epoxy grout instead of cement grout, and a working extractor fan, which we check together with the shower.

    Stages of work

    1. We measure the floor height and choose the type of drain.
    2. We fit the drain, connect it to the waste pipe and run the water supply.
    3. We lay the screed to a fall.
    4. We apply the waterproofing and test it with water.
    5. After tiling, we fit the drain grate, the mixer trim plate and the shower head.

    We measure for the glass screen once the tiling is finished. We give a 12-month guarantee on the whole shower area.
