FAQ
How much does window installation cost?
Fitting from 50 ₾ per m² of window, a balcony door from 90 ₾, old window removal from 30 ₾, reveals from 35 ₾ per metre. The windows themselves depend on the profile and glazing — we'll quote after the survey.
Can you fit windows I've bought myself?
Yes. We check sizes and parts before fitting so there are no surprises on the day.
Which windows work best by the sea in Batumi?
Ones with good seals, double-chamber glazing and hardware that copes with salt. On high floors the profile needs to handle strong wind.
Why do windows fog up and get mould around them?
Often it's fitting without tapes: the joint soaks up moisture and the reveal gets cold. We fit with a vapour barrier inside and a breathable tape outside, and check ventilation if the flat is damp.
How long does fitting take?
One window usually takes 2 – 3 hours, a whole flat 1 – 2 days. Reveals are done after fitting.
Window installation and replacement in Batumi, built for wind, salt and damp
By the sea, a window takes loads it never faces in an inland city. Gusts of wind on high floors press on the sashes, salty air eats away at the hardware, and humidity finds any gap in the installation joint. Many complaints about "bad windows" turn out to be installation mistakes: the joint was foamed without protective tapes, the foam soaked up water, the reveal gets cold and mould grows on it. That is why, when we install windows in Batumi, we pay as much attention to the joint as to the frame profile itself.
When it is time to replace your windows
- There is still a draught even after the sashes have been adjusted.
- The glazing unit fogs up on the inside, between the panes.
- The sashes have sagged and take effort to close.
- The hardware is broken or rusted.
- It is too noisy from the street.
- The flat was handed over without windows or with temporary frames.
How a proper installation works
We fit the window on expanding foam, but foam on its own does not like moisture or UV light. On the inside we seal the joint with a vapour barrier tape that keeps moisture from the flat out of it. On the outside we apply a breathable tape: it protects against rain but lets residual moisture escape. A joint like this stays dry and the reveal does not get cold. If the flat is damp, we also check the ventilation: even a perfect window will sweat in a flat with no air exchange.
After installation we adjust the hardware, then make the reveals, the window sill and the outer sill with sealing.
Windows in a new build
Developers in Batumi often hand over flats without windows or with temporary frames. Permanent units are best fitted before the plastering and screed: that way the reveals and sills are finished together with the walls, and the junctions come out without cracks. If the windows are already in but were fitted without tapes, you will see it from dark patches on the reveals after the first winter, and it makes sense to redo the joint before the final finishing.
Reveals can be PVC or plaster. A PVC reveal goes in within a few hours and wipes clean with a sponge, while a plaster reveal is painted along with the walls and looks like part of the interior.
Which windows to choose by the sea
You need good seals, a two-chamber (triple-glazed) unit and hardware that resists salt. On high floors, a profile designed for strong wind matters. We will choose the profile and glazing unit to suit the noise level and the sunny side. If you have already bought your windows, we will install them, checking the dimensions and components first.
