How much does interior door installation cost?
A standard door is from 150 ₾ each, with extension jambs 170 ₾, concealed 250 ₾, sliding 220 ₾. That's labour only, doors and hardware are extra. For a small job like fitting a lock the call-out is 50 ₾, free for orders from 150 ₾.
Which doors suit Batumi's humid climate?
Veneer and cheap MDF with unsealed edges can swell in a humid climate, especially in a closed-up flat or next to a bathroom. Leaves finished in CPL, PVC or enamel hold up better. For bathrooms, moisture-resistant doors only.
When should doors go in during a renovation?
At the very end, after the final floors and wall painting. Fit them earlier and the frames get paint and dust on them, and there's no proper gap left for laminate or tiles.
Do you sell doors?
No, we don't sell any particular brand. We can help you choose — finish, frame depth, extensions and hardware — and then install what you've bought.
What works best for a rental flat?
For Airbnb and Booking flats, go for leaves with a tough finish and magnetic locks: the doors take guest wear better and don't bang. If you're abroad, we agree everything by photo and send you photos once they're in.
Interior door installation in Batumi: a level frame and a door leaf that will not swell
A door leaf hung a couple of millimetres out of true at first just catches the threshold now and then. Six months later it stops latching, and a wedge-shaped gap appears between the leaf and the frame. Interior door installation in Batumi also has to take humidity into account: a door leaf material that works well in a dry climate can behave quite differently by the sea.
Which doors can cope with a seaside climate
Veneer and cheap MDF with unprotected edges absorb moisture from the air. The leaf swells, the edging comes away, and the door starts to rub. For apartments in Batumi we recommend door leaves with a CPL, PVC or enamel finish: they do not let moisture in. In bathrooms we fit only moisture-resistant models.
We do not sell doors. We help you choose the finish, frame type, extension boards and hardware to suit your budget, and then install what you have bought. Before you buy, we will always come and measure the openings: a standard frame often turns out to be narrower than the wall.
How much installation costs
- Interior door, fully fitted with frame, hinges, lock and architraves: from 150 ₾ each.
- Door with extension boards for a wide opening, architraves on both sides: from 170 ₾.
- Flush concealed door, level with the wall and ready for painting: from 250 ₾.
- Sliding door along the wall or into a pocket: from 220 ₾.
- Removal of an old door with its frame and taking it away: from 40 ₾.
- Fitting a standard or magnetic lock and handle: from 40 ₾.
Concealed or sliding
A concealed door without architraves is painted the colour of the wall and almost disappears from the interior. It suits a walk-in closet, a bathroom off the hallway or a minimalist living room. A sliding door helps where a hinged door has no room to open: in a narrow hallway, next to a wardrobe or in a small studio.
When to fit doors during a renovation
At the very end, after the finished flooring has been laid and the walls have been painted. If you fit a door earlier, the leaf risks being damaged during the finishing work, and the gap under it will be wrong because the floor has not yet been laid. The opening, however, needs to be prepared in advance, at the wall stage.
How installation works
We measure the openings, walls and floor. We remove the old door assembly, if there is one, and prepare the opening. We set the frame strictly level, hang the leaf, and fit the extension boards and architraves. Finally we check how the door swings, that the gaps are even and that the lock works, and clear away the rubbish.
Doors in a rental apartment
If the apartment is let on a short-term basis, we use door leaves with a tough finish that is not afraid of knocks from suitcases, and magnetic locks: they are quieter and break less often with frequent use. For owners living abroad we send options for approval and photos after installation.
A call-out for a small job such as fitting a lock costs 50 ₾, and is free for orders from 150 ₾. The installation comes with a 12-month guarantee.
