What should I do right away if the ceiling sags?
Switch off the lighting breaker, don't touch or pierce the bulge, and move electronics and furniture out from under it. Ask the neighbours upstairs to shut off their water and message us straight away.
How much does water removal cost?
Water removal from a stretch ceiling is from 100 ₾, drying and re-tensioning is 60 ₾ and a light replacement is 20 ₾. If the membrane needs replacing, it is 30 ₾ per m².
Will the membrane survive?
A PVC membrane usually holds the water and returns to shape after proper draining and drying. A fabric membrane doesn't hold water and usually has to be replaced after a flood.
Why shouldn't I pierce the bulge myself?
Under the weight of water the membrane is stretched tight, and a small hole quickly becomes a tear. The water comes out all at once and the membrane has to be replaced.
I'm abroad and the flat was flooded. What now?
Ask a neighbour or the building manager to let us in and switch off the breaker. We drain it and send before-and-after photos — in Batumi leaks often go unnoticed for a while.
Stretch ceiling water removal in Batumi: what to do right now
A bubble is sagging under the ceiling, water is dripping from a light fitting, and the lights have gone out in the room. In a high-rise, water from the neighbours upstairs arrives more often than you'd like, and at that moment the stretch ceiling does its main job: it collects the water and keeps it off the sofa, the appliances and the parquet. Your job is not to make things worse before the technician arrives. We remove water from stretch ceilings in Batumi on the day you call.
The first five minutes
- Switch off the lighting breaker for that room in the panel and don't turn the light on.
- Don't touch the bubble, and certainly don't pierce it.
- Move any appliances and furniture that can be shifted out from under it.
- Go up to the neighbours and ask them to shut off the water.
- Take a photo of the ceiling and send it to us on a messenger app.
Why you mustn't pierce it yourself
Under the weight of the water, the membrane is stretched to its limit. A small hole instantly turns into a tear, all the water pours out at once, and after that the ceiling can't be restored, only replaced. The technician lets the water out through a light fitting opening or through the edge where the membrane is tucked into the profile, without a single cut.
What happens to the membrane
A PVC membrane can hold a considerable weight of water and, after proper draining and drying, returns to its shape. If the water hasn't stood for long and was clean, there are usually no marks left. A fabric membrane doesn't hold water: it lets it through and almost always needs replacing. If the PVC is torn or badly stretched, we'll suggest a replacement and agree its cost in advance.
Prices
- Draining water through a light fitting or the edge, without cuts: from 100 ₾.
- Drying and re-tensioning the membrane: from 60 ₾.
- A new light fitting to replace a wet one: from 20 ₾.
- Replacing a damaged membrane: from 30 ₾ per m².
The technician will tell you the final total on site, before starting the work.
What the technician does
Drains the water into containers, dries the membrane and the space above it, then re-tensions it and checks every light fitting. Light fittings that water has got into are replaced: it isn't safe to switch them on after a flood. If the membrane has darkened or become stained, we assess whether it can be kept.
If you're not in Batumi
Many owners find out about a flood from a neighbour's phone call, or see a sagging ceiling when they come back after several months away. Ask a neighbour or the property manager to open the flat and switch off the lighting breaker. We'll come, drain the water and send you photos of the ceiling before and after the work.
If you're not sure whether a visit is needed, send us a photo: from it the technician can tell how urgent the situation is.
