    Ventilation in a private house

Air moves differently in a house than in a flat: several floors, a staircase, windowless bathrooms, an attic and a boiler room. We design for the whole house, not one room.

    • Windowless bathrooms and kitchen — extraction to the outside, not into the attic
    • Ground floor and basement — supply and extract where it gets dampest
    • Upstairs bedrooms — wall heat-recovery units keep the warmth in winter
    • Attic and roof space — we check the vents so condensation does not build up
    • Boiler room with a gas boiler — fresh-air supply to code

    What’s included

    • Single-room heat recovery unit — supply and extract while keeping the heat, no ducts
    • Extractor fan — bathroom, WC or kitchen, with a backdraft valve against neighbours' smells
    • Fresh-air inlet valve — fresh air with the windows closed
    • Ductwork — run above a stretch or suspended ceiling
    • Diamond core drilling — clean holes in concrete up to 160 mm
    • Whole-flat MVHR — a full system designed for your flat
    • Help choosing — we'll suggest models and how many you need

    FAQ

How much does a heat recovery unit cost to install?

A single-room wall unit with drilling and wiring is from 250 ₾ each. An extractor fan is 60 ₾ and a fresh-air inlet valve is 80 ₾. Whole-flat systems are priced by project.

Why is mould so common in Batumi?

It's a humid seaside climate, and many new builds have weak or no ventilation. Moisture has nowhere to go, condenses on cold walls and windows, and mould follows.

Why is a heat recovery unit better than an open window?

It swaps the air constantly and keeps some of the warmth or cool. An open window lets in heat and humidity in summer and cold in winter — and you can't leave it open when you go away.

Can I add ventilation without renovating?

Yes. Wall heat recovery units, extractor fans and inlet valves need no ducts: we drill, mount and connect. Ducts are easier to add during a renovation.

The flat stands empty while I'm abroad. Will this help?

Yes. A closed-up flat by the sea gets damp quickly. A heat recovery unit or extractor on continuous mode keeps it aired while you're away, so guests don't walk into a musty smell.

Do you do ventilation in private houses?

Yes. We come for a survey, check every floor, the bathrooms, attic and boiler room, and give you a layout and price before work starts. We cover Batumi and Adjara, including Makhinjauri, Gonio and Kvariati.

Ventilation and MVHR in Batumi: how to get rid of damp in your apartment

In a large share of Batumi's high-rises, ventilation is weak or practically non-existent. Humid sea air gets into the apartment but has nowhere to go: it settles as droplets on cold walls and windows, and a month later black patches appear in those spots. An air conditioner in dehumidifying mode only helps partly, because it does not renew the air. The solution lies in proper air exchange.

A heat recovery unit instead of an open window

An open window lets in heat, humidity or cold, and you cannot keep it open round the clock. A wall-mounted heat recovery unit constantly changes the air in the room while returning some of the warmth in winter or the coolness in summer. It needs no ductwork: we drill a hole in the external wall, mount the unit and connect it. Installation costs from 250 ₾ per unit, including drilling.

    Other ventilation components

    • An extractor fan with a non-return valve for the bathroom, toilet or kitchen, from 60 ₾. The valve stops smells from the shared shaft coming back into the apartment.
    • A supply vent built into the external wall, from 80 ₾: a simple way to bring fresh air into the bedroom.
    • Ductwork behind a stretch or suspended ceiling, from 35 ₾ per linear metre.
    • Diamond core drilling of holes up to 160 mm in concrete, from 70 ₾. The core bit cuts with almost no dust.
    • A supply and extract unit for the whole apartment, which we price from a design.

A heat recovery unit, an extractor fan and a vent can be fitted without renovation. Ductwork, however, is easier to install while the ceilings are still open.

    If the apartment stands empty

An apartment by the sea that is shut up for several months quickly becomes damp. An extractor fan or heat recovery unit running continuously airs it out until you arrive, and you are greeted by fresh air instead of a cellar smell.

    Ventilation in a private house

For a house in Makhinjauri, Gonio or Kvariati, we inspect all floors, the bathrooms, the loft and the boiler room and propose a scheme for the whole building. Extraction from a bathroom or windowless kitchen is taken outside, not into the loft, where it would only add moisture. In the loft we check the vents so that condensation does not build up there. For a boiler room with a gas boiler we provide an air supply that meets the regulations.

    Where we start

First we look for the sources of damp and check the condition of the walls and any equipment already installed. Then we propose a scheme, and you know the cost before the first hole is drilled in the wall. After installation we start the system, check the airflow and show you the modes. We help you choose the model and the number of units for the floor area. The installed equipment is covered by a one-year guarantee on the work.

    Get rid of damp

Send photos of the rooms and any mould or condensation. We'll suggest a fix and agree the price before starting.
