    How much does flooring installation cost?

    Laminate with underlay and click LVT are from 12 ₾/m², glue-down LVT 15 ₾/m², engineered wood 20 ₾/m². That's labour only. You get an exact estimate after a free survey.

    Laminate or LVT?

    LVT is water-resistant, so it works in kitchens and hallways. Laminate is cheaper but swells if it gets soaked. In a humid climate and for rentals we usually recommend LVT.

    Anything specific to Batumi?

    In the humid climate screed takes longer to dry and boards pick up moisture from the air. So we measure base moisture and let the flooring acclimatise in the flat before laying.

    Can you lay over old tiles?

    Click LVT and laminate often can go over tiles if they're flat and firmly bonded. We decide on the survey.

    Is it suitable for an Airbnb flat?

    Yes, click LVT is a practical choice for rentals: spilled water and wet mopping don't harm it, and a damaged board can be replaced on its own.

    Laminate and LVT flooring installation in Batumi: what to choose and how to avoid a swollen floor

    Right after installation any floor looks equally good. The difference shows after a season: in one place the joints peak upwards, in another gaps open up between the boards, and at the bathroom door the laminate swells from the first puddle. Laminate and LVT flooring installation in Batumi has to take into account something you can skip in dry cities: the moisture in the subfloor and in the air itself.

    Laminate or LVT

    Laminate is cheaper, but its core of compressed wood fibre does not like water. A spilt bucket or water from a wet swimsuit leaves swollen edges at the joints. LVT does not mind water, so we more often recommend it for the kitchen, the hallway and any rental flat. Click LVT is laid as a floating floor, while glue-down LVT is bonded to a prepared subfloor: it is thinner and quieter underfoot, but it needs a perfectly level screed. We lay engineered wood flooring either floating or glued.

    You pay for the flooring and underlay separately. We calculate the number of boards with an allowance for cutting, so that you do not have to buy more from a different batch halfway through the job.

    Three rules for laying floors by the sea

    First: we measure the moisture of the screed with a meter. If the subfloor has not dried out, we postpone the installation, even when deadlines are tight. Second: before installation the boxes of flooring are left in the flat so the boards can adjust to its temperature and humidity. Third: we leave an expansion gap around the perimeter. The boards expand slightly in the humid season, and without a gap they have nowhere to go but up.

    Can you lay it over old tiles?

    Often you can, if the tiles are level and firmly bonded. Click LVT and laminate go straight on top, and you save on demolition and dust. We tap every tile when we measure up and decide on the spot: a single hollow tile under the flooring will start to creak within a year.

    Flooring for short-term rentals

    Click LVT is the most practical choice here. Daily wet cleaning does not harm it, and if a board is scratched by a suitcase, it can be replaced on its own without taking up the whole room.

    Measuring the subfloor and the area, a quote, removal of the old floor covering and levelling if needed. Then installation with cutting around doors and pipes, skirting, thresholds and cleaning up. We cover the joints between tiles and laminate with a neat profile, with no difference in height.
